The lead pastor from Elevate Church is sharing his vision for the culture of the Santa Clarita church, which he and his congregation have been cultivating since its inception nine years ago.

“We have many of those in our church that just love God, they love people and they love family, and that’s been our culture since we started Elevate Church nine years ago,” said Pastor Mauricio Ruiz. “By God’s grace, we’ve been able to continue that culture throughout the years.”

Ruiz continued that the “key” to connecting with people is loving them, in addition to “showing them what honor looks like.”

“That’s a major part of our church, is honor,” he said. “We teach the culture of honor.”

One way Elevate Church aims to connect with the general community is by planning large-scale events and services for holidays like Easter and Christmas, which Ruiz noted takes months of thoughtful preparation.

“We love to see the community connect with us in some way, whether you attend the church or not,” he said. “If there’s something specific that we do for the community that connects people to come and experience something beautiful, especially Christ, what (an) awesome way than to do it with these amazing moments that we have in our beautiful seasons throughout the year.”

The final key component Ruiz mentioned about Elevate Church is their desire to help everyone feel included from the very beginning.

“We’re not an exclusive church, we’re an inclusive church,” he said. “I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to believe to belong at Elevate Church. You belong before you ever believe, because that’s how much God loves you.”
