Elks Lodge Hosts Veterans Luncheon And Guitar Donations In Santa Clarita

On Monday, the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge #2379 hosted its annual veterans luncheon to honor their service to the country.

Approximately 80 guests, including 45 veterans, showed up to Monday’s luncheon to enjoy a complimentary meal and dessert.

The veterans luncheon featured “heartfelt presentations and camaraderie,” according to Elk Lodge officials. “This yearly event provides a gathering and celebrities how the Elks Lodge supports veterans, many of whom are members of the Elks fraternal order.”

Several organizations, such as the Quilts of Valor, the Elks Lodge Veterans Committee, and the Santa Clarita Veterans Guitar Alliance, were present at Monday’s luncheon.

Donna Kiger, a representative for the nonprofit Quilts of Valor organization, briefly spoke about the group’s mission before presenting a handcrafted quilt to Dale Turner, a Vietnam veteran, in recognition of his service.

Turner also served in both the Army and the Marines before being an Elk Member and the current co-chair of the Elks Lodge Veterans Committee.

The Santa Clarita Veterans Guitar Alliance, a local volunteer group that’s made up of teachers, students, and Elk members, provided live entertainment to guests after the veterans were recognized for their service.

The music organization provides guitar lessons to veterans and provides a complimentary guitar kit to them once they complete a 10-week course that can be taken in-person or remotely. The Elks Veterans Committee provides the musical instruments through their Elks ratitude Grant.

As a result of Monday’s performance, the Guitar Alliance co-founders, Tom Lamog and Bruce Geiger, received seven new guitars and accessories from Jeannette Fisher, the Elks Veterans Committee co-chair.
