A GoFundMe has been set up for the family that lost two of their three children by drowning in Lake Hughes the Monday after Easter.
Movses Aslanyan, 4 and his sister Lilya, 3 were the two siblings that died by drowning in a shallow pond on their property in Lake Hughes, said Azatui Karaoglanyan, a family member in the GoFundMe.
“Our family is utterly devastated today, as we lost two of our youngest relatives,” Karaoglanyan said. “Our grief and sadness are too deep to put into words. As we try to grapple with the tragic death of these two wonderful children, I am starting this fundraiser in order to help provide immediate support to their parents, Hayk Aslanyan and Gayane Balabanyan, so that they can focus on their surviving daughter, 8-year-old Astghik, and get help and services for themselves too, without having to worry about work and the resources they need urgently at this difficult time.”

The Aslanyan family moved from Armenia to the United States in 2015. The two little ones were born in Los Angeles, according to the GoFundMe.
Lilya was described as quiet, but very independent and feisty, resembling a “ life-size doll.” Everyone would call her “tiknik” – meaning doll, the GoFundMe read.
Movses was a deep thinker, especially for his age. He was also quite friendly. His smile would melt any heart. Movses and Lilya were truly each other’s best friends. They had two dogs, and loved playing with them all day long.
Only about a year ago, the family moved into their first house, in Lake Hughes, and the kids were thrilled to have a huge backyard to run around and play, Karaoglanyan said in the GoFundMe.
“Their new home was the result of their parents’ hard work. The father, Hayk, has been working literally day and night as an Uber driver. And Gayane has been a stay-at-home mom who baked at home and occasionally took orders to assist her husband,” Karaoglanyan said.
The death of these two “beautiful angels,” Movses and Lilya, has shocked the family to the core.
“Please help us as we try to ease the pain of their parents and sister by giving them the support that they need,” Karaoglanyan said.
