LASD To Not Enforce Most Parking Restrictions During Stay-At-Home Order In Unincorporated Areas

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) announced Wednesday that they are not going to be issuing parking citations in the unincorporated Los Angeles County during the stay-at-home order.

The recent stay at home order issued in early December brought to light once again the need for additional parking across Los Angeles County, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Understanding the needs and challenges of those in the communities, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Parking Enforcement Detail is set to temporarily relax parking enforcement, effective immediately, to help cope with parking availability, according to the department.

Temporary relaxed enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County are expected to include:

Street sweeping:  All streets with posted signs for street sweeping, are set to not be enforced.

Expired registration: Vehicles with expired registration are expected to not be cited for registrations expired in excess of six months, in violation of, will not be towed.

However, enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County will continue for blocking fire hydrants, red zone parking and/or fire lane, handicap parking violations, blocking driveways, parked vehicles which disrupt the flow of traffic, and metered parking in business districts.

The Sheriff’s Department will continue to enforce violations which pose an immediate risk to public safety.

  1. So what’s the difference?! Parking enforcement in SCV is ALWAYS lax and not enforced year-round!! Parking Enforcement people are lazy and don’t like to do their jobs all the time here, and the Sheriffs can’t be bothered with it, let alone anything having to do with TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT at ALL! It’s asinine really! Then they wonder why so many people speed all around town and there’s SO MANY drunk and stoned drivers every day and night here, and they wonder why! Because there’s NO ENFORCEMENT at ALL here!! Duh!!! The Sheriffs need to be more on the ball no question about it!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
