Over 70 recruits from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Academy convened at Six Flags Magic Mountain early Thursday morning to honor four fallen deputies during a colors run: Deputy Hagop “Jake” Kuredjian, Deputy Arthur Pelino, Deputy Randy Hamson, and Deputy David March.
The colors run marks a “giant milestone” in the career of a recruit, as it gives them the opportunity to earn both their shoulder patches and their star, according to officials.
Deputy David March, 33, a resident of Saugus, was killed in the line of duty in 2002 during a traffic stop in Irwindale. The suspect planned on killing a law enforcement officer, and intentionally allowed himself to be stopped and waited for Deputy March to get in front of his patrol car so he could open fire. March, who has a Santa Clarita park named in his honor, is survived by his wife and stepdaughter.
On Aug. 31, 2001, Deputy Hagop “Jake” Kuredjian, 40, was fatally shot after responding to a call of “shots fired” in Stevenson Ranch, where Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents were serving a search warrant. A memorial plaque dedicated to him was placed at the corner of Stevenson Ranch Parkway and Poe Parkway in 2019, and Deputy Jake Drive in Newhall was named in his honor.
Deputy Arthur Pelino, 50, responded to a call on March 19, 1978 when he was shot and killed by a mentally deranged suspect. Two of Pelino’s children found him and the suspect, and ran to get help. Pelino’s wife, Patricia was able to get the suspect into a cell and call for assistance, according to officials. Deputy Pelino had been with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for 21 years and left behind a wife, three sons, and three daughters. His spouse, Patricia Pelino, passed away on April 21, 2018.
Deputy Randy Hamson, 44, died Oct. 24, 2008, due to injuries sustained on Aug.16, 2004, when he was struck by a vehicle on Sierra Highway. A street in Canyon Country was named after him in 2009, Dep. Randy Hamson Court sits at the eastern tip of Via Princessa Rd., across the street from Golden Oak Elementary school.

They were all outstanding men who left us much too soon. God Bless you all, good luck with your future careers and welcome to our family!!!
Honor to fallen LE!! They have one of the toughest jobs in the world!! Dealing all day with the scumbags of society, with their hands tied by the Liberal politicians who create laws that ruin decent society!! The Liberals that created Prop. 47(Gascon) & 57 and AB109(Democrats/Liberals), and the fools/cretins that voted for it, that excuse and let demons out of jail early to constantly prey on decent taxpayers!!
