Mission Opera Set To Hold A Free Concert For SCV Residents

Santa Clarita locals can enjoy Mission Opera’s Fourth Annual “Winter Holidays of the World” all for free as performers pay homage to various winter celebrations around the world via song and dance.

On Friday, Dec. 8,  at 7:30 p.m., the Santa Clarita United Methodist Church (UMC) is set to host this special event.

Musicians from Mission Opera and Santa Clarita UMC Chancel Voices are set to perform a medley of holiday favorites at the “Winter Holidays of the World.”

The program includes selections honoring Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali, Kwanzaa, Russian New Year, Yalda Night and more!

The concert starts with some of the lesser-known American holidays, with educational parts that provide some history and context for each one and the culture it symbolizes.

Guests can expect to hear a medley of new and old English songs, including a Christmas carol singalong, in Russian, Hebrew, Spanish and German.

A candlelight vigil featuring multilingual renditions of “Silent Night” will cap off the performance.

Anyone, even those with no prior knowledge of opera, is welcome to attend this educational event.

The total run time of the performance is expected to last two hours, with a 15-minute break in the middle.
