National Guard Return To Santa Clarita For Continuing Protests

The National Guard is back in Santa Clarita Friday in response to an additional planned protest expected to take place in Valencia, officials said.

A smaller protest is expected to take place Friday around 12 p.m. near Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway following the death of George Floyd, according to officials.

Although the protests that occurred Thursday in the same area remained “peaceful,” the National Guard has returned Friday in the event the protest becomes violent, according to officials.

Friday protesters are expected to march from the intersection of Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway toward City Hall to voice their opinions on manners toward the black community they feel the City should implement, according to a protester from Thursday’s event.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are aware of the protest that is expected and additional deputies from the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station have also responded to the area to assist Santa Clarita deputies, according to a Tweet from the Lost Hills Station.

  1. You have to be freaking kidding me.

    • No. Not kidding! Listen… rumble rumble rumble… hear that? That’s the sound of tanks rumbling down McBean. Here come some more… rumble rumble rumble… heading up Valencia now. So impressive.

  2. Here is one courageous black lady not afraid to speak up its worth listening to.

  3. Nobody cares anymore. Thanks for showing how ridiculous your message is. Burden people who were empathetic but now could care less. You really helped the situation in Minnesota, here in SCV. Very impactful. What a joke.

  4. So some psycho cop brutally kills a criminal in Minnesota but people are protesting in California and now the idiot mayor of L.A. is taking over one million away from the police department. Makes a lot of sense when we had nothing to do with it. Now we know for sure Garcetti is nuts. Wait until you call a cop because you are getting attacked. Good luck with that!
PS Gun sales are going thru the roof. People will now have to protect themselves.

  5. Rosie is right, yo better go to turners, aint no cop helping you now. This BS just put the period on this country that has been written to be divided, welcome to a war that may never end and we are fighting against ourselves, Great job people, the world owes you nothing, the government owes you nothing, you must work in order to survive, George should have not died but he should have just got in the back of the cop car instead of resisting.. I am deeply sorry for the loss of a human life but crap stop resisting no matter the color of race you are, it completely turned this country further against each other, GREAT JOB.. and yes I may be going to turners next week..

  6. Our president has been espousing hate toward people since before he took office and clearly some of you feel that it’s ok for you to do it, as well. Don’t even pretend to be a person of faith.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
