Hundreds of Black Lives Matter protestors gathered at the intersection of McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard on Thursday afternoon in response to the death of George Floyd on May 25.

“The inequality and the injustice has got to stop, and in order for it to stop we all have to unite,” said a protester named Joel. “That’s what I’m seeing here, people of all different colors and races uniting (and) giving us a voice so that we can have a chance to put a stop to this.”

After beginning at the intersection, protestors marched to the front of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station to continue their peaceful demonstration.

Concerned about potential looting and rioting that has taken place during protests throughout Los Angeles County and the nation at large, the Santa Clarita City Council unanimously passed a local emergency and 6 p.m. curfew ahead on Wednesday evening.

The National Guard was called to the Santa Clarita Valley in preparation for potential unrest that could have arisen from those wishing to take advantage of the large gathering.

Despite these concerns however, the protest remained peaceful, with no arrests being made as a result of the demonstration, according to a detective with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Additionally, no injuries to protesters or law enforcement were reported, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

By 4:30 p.m., protesters had concluded their demonstration and left the area. The 6 p.m. city curfew had been rescinded.

No individuals have been arrested or harmed in connection with Black Lives Matter protests began in the Santa Clarita Valley since they began on May 29.

  1. Hopefully our young black Americans are not being brainwashed by the Internet the opinions news or even their own family and friends to believe they will get treated badly because of the color of their skin because that is a lie. You will be judged by How you dress and they way you act towards people. If you act respectable you will get respect. We should not judge a book by it’s cover but we always will. Hear this bright young black lady speaking her mind on life in America and pass it on to our youth and everyone.

    • As usual, you make absolutely no sense. You just said discrimination doesn’t exist anymore, but that people still judge a book by its cover. Nice try, but you’re full of it as always. And who are you to tell people of color racism doesn’t exist? That is the biggest lie I’ve ever heard

      • Of course there is racist people out there you ignorant fool go online you will find plenty from all races including a lot of racist black people. Is there a majority of them No don’t go around spreading your ignorance on the subject. People will always judge you by what you wear and how you speak to them. Some black people don’t believe in the media spreading rumors they will get treated bad by society because of their color most of that is placed in their heads by someone. Blacks can do and be everything every other race can be.

  2. Denny and David you can’t change someone’s mind on first impression you idiots that has nothing to do with race! If your dressed like a thug with your pants around your ace no matter what color you are you will be perceived as a thug, if your dirty and dressed in rags you might get thought of as a bum no matter your race! Wow this world is full of ignorant bigots! No wonder you blame your pathetic life on other races you have no brain to think for yourselves.

    • More authentic gibberish from the floundering Wildo. What was that boy trying to say…?
Don’t know? Me neither and I couldn’t care less what the discredited bigot says about anything.

  3. 401 years, the UNITED STATES of AMERICA is only 243 years old, so we are getting blamed for something that started 158 years prior to us becoming the USA.. yes its unfortunate that it still exist but a 10 year old holding the signs will continue the hate and their parents need to rethink their way of teaching. these protesters whether 10 or 100 will not change a thing when they do things like this.. this promotes hate in all kinds of way. if you are not with them, they will turn on you, if you try and make COMMON SENSE they will loot you or burn your car. this is not the way to teach any one

  4. you can not take it out on the world, you can only blame ONE that caused the issue, the issue being one bad cop.. or is it 2. one that is on illegal drugs and doing a crime and 1 bad cop. I hate NO ONE and I mean that. this is wrong in so many levels

  5. Very nice blog post. I absolutely love this site.
