Samaritan Purse acknowledges the residents of Santa Clarita’s major contributions during its “Operation Christmas Child” project.
Santa Clarita residents joined millions across the United States this holiday season in supporting Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan’s Purse project that collected over 11.9 million shoebox gifts to bring joy and hope to children in need around the globe.
“These gifts are more than items in a box—they’re a message to children that they are valued and not forgotten,” said Hannah Murphy, Marketing and Media Relations Associate for Samaritan’s Purse.
Nationwide, 10.5 million shoeboxes were packed in 2024, with additional contributions from partnering countries helping reach children in more than 170 nations. These personalized gift boxes, often the first gift many children have ever received, serve as tangible reminders of love and care.
Since the program’s launch in 1993, over 232 million shoeboxes have been delivered worldwide.
Santa Clarita residents played a vital role, shopping year-round for shoebox items and dedicating time to volunteer efforts.
While local drop-off points won’t reopen until Nov. 17–24, 2025, community members can still make an impact by packing a shoebox online here.
