The Saddleridge Fire has prompted the cancellation of the Rubber Ducky Festival and Sheriff’s Department Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, officials said.
Samuel Dixon Family Health Center announced Friday afternoon the cancellation of the 17th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival due to the rapidly growing fire and poor air quality.
“It is very unfortunate that we have to make this announcement because our rubber duck event has been part of our community for the last 17 years. Many look forward to our one-of-a-kind event to enjoy all the festivities and watch thousands of ducks race down the waterway. The health and safety of our employees, vendors and community is our highest priority,” said Philip Solomon, CEO.

Although the event has been canceled, the planning of a rubber duck race is in the works to identify the grand prize winners, who will be contacted by a representative of the agency, according to officials.
“All of us at Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers would like to extend our appreciation to all our adoptees, participants, volunteers, vendors, sponsors and community for their ongoing support of our annual fundraiser,” officials said. “Please know that your contributions for this year’s event will go directly toward families in need of healthcare, dental and behavioral health services.”
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Chili Cook-Off is also canceled, with a rescheduled date to be determined, according to event organizers.

Too bad some of the billions a year in property taxes collected here we can’t even support a free clinic for resident’s. Instead the city buys up hundreds of acres ,puts cops on every corner, pays city employees very good and changes the median plants out once a year with the money.
