The Sand Canyon Plaza project in Canyon Country is progressing steadily, promising to bring a blend of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces to the Santa Clarita community. 

Named “Sand Canyon Village,” and located at the bustling intersection of Sand Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road, this development spans approximately 80 acres and is set to transform the local landscape.

The project plans to introduce 580 residential units, comprising 148 single-family homes, 120 attached townhomes, and 312 apartments. In January 2025, Intracorp and Resmark, the construction and real estate companies representing the project commenced the first phase, known as Pelona Hills at Sand Canyon, which includes 119 detached single-family homes. 

These homes, designed in a contemporary California Ranch style, range from approximately 1,830 to 2,181 square feet and offer up to four bedrooms, two and a half baths, and two-car side garages. 

Beyond housing, Sand Canyon Village is set to feature over 45,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, including restaurants and shops. Preliminary tenants announced for the development include Sprouts Farmers Market, Jersey Mike’s Subs, and Domino’s Pizza. 

The development emphasizes community and recreation, incorporating parks, open spaces, and a walking trail system. An 85,000-square-foot assisted living facility with up to 140 beds is also part of the plan, catering to the needs of senior residents.

The vision for Sand Canyon Plaza has been in the works for nearly two decades. Initial plans began when the property owner sought and received permission to rezone and redevelop the then-mobile home park into a mixed-use project. The project received approval from the city in October 2017, and after years of planning and community input, construction is now well underway.

As construction progresses, residents and commuters in Canyon Country can observe the transformation of the area, eagerly anticipating the new housing options, retail establishments, and community amenities that Sand Canyon Plaza will offer.
