Santa Clarita Congressman Mike Garcia Co-Sponsors Resolution 352 To Support Law Enforcement

Santa Clarita Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, co-sponsored Resolution 352 on Thursday to show support of law enforcement officers.

In celebration of May’s National Police Week, Garcia showed support of law enforcement through co-sponsoring Resolution 352, which condemns calls to defund, disband, dismantle or abolish the police, according to the resolution.

“Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line daily to protect our communities,” Garcia said. “While the radical left continues to recklessly call to defund and disband the police, I am committed to funding and supporting our law enforcement.”

The resolution expresses that “the dedication and devotion of law enforcement personnel should be recognized and that calls to defund, disband, dismantle or abolish the police should be condemned.”

“The vast majority of our law enforcement officers are honorable guardians and it is imperative that we provide them with the proper funding and support so they can continue to keep our communities safe,” Garcia said. “I want to thank all our brave law enforcement officers and their families who sacrifice so much to keep us safe.”

Garcia’s co-sponsorship of Resolution 352 comes on the heels of California politicians contemplating the release of  “dangerous” felons to allow for “safer prisons,” officials with Garcia’s Office said in a previous KHTS article.

“Just when you think California couldn’t enact more idiotic policies, the politicians in Sacramento are now putting children and families in danger by releasing tens of thousands of violent criminals into our communities,” Garcia said. “The state must immediately put a stop to this reckless plan.”

  1. I wonder if Rep. Garcia thought about the violence suffered by the Capitol Police when sponsoring the bill? Perhaps he could start by acknowledging the cause of the insurrection fiasco and his vote’s future culpability to not certify lawful election results and to hold Trump and the others with fiery coup minded rhetoric accountable. This caused violence to be inflicted on law enforcement on Jan 6 and will into the future. You either support laws and their enforcement, honor your oath or you don’t. Wonder how many of the other 53 co-sponsors of this bill were part of the 147 that voted against our democracy by not certifying a free and fair election based on some yet to be seen secret evidence? Maybe next you can latch onto a bill that says the sky is blue. Only the most radical militant fringe would want to disband law enforcement. Accountability, honesty and efficiency in policing though, we can all agree on. We can and should all honor and respect honest cops which most are. We should all get behind laws that can help them do their job productively. Please don’t exploit and pour gasoline on easy hot button issues in order to fundraise as that just continues to divide and hurt our country. Perhaps jail overcrowding, drug addiction, poverty and keeping corporations out of incarceration is something you can get behind with your next co-sponsorship. These fruits are much higher in the tree and harder to pick.
