With the end of another school year, parents are faced with the task of deciding what activities to plan for their kids, and the Santa Clarita Public Library is ready to help.
The Santa Clarita Public Library is set to increase its summer programming.
Included in this is the start of the yearly Summer Reading Program, which starts on June 12. Santa Clarita residents can participate in a range of free family-friendly events, reading challenges, crafts and other activities thanks to this well-liked program.
Find Your Voice is the year’s topic, and it invites readers to share their experiences, express themselves, and utilize their voices to bring about positive change in the world.
Readers are urged by the theme to investigate literature on history, social justice, science, technology, engineering, math and other subjects.
The Santa Clarita Public Library is set to have events for kids, teens and adults all summer long!
Children can create board games, clay sculptures, poetry, and play with crafts. Teens can prepare to make their own self-portraits, paint pendulums, build pocket terrariums and more.
At Central Park adults are invited to join the Santa Clarita Public Library for a round of disc golf, create stunning jewelry, or construct your own mug in the library’s makerspace if you’re looking to keep busy.
The Santa Clarita Public Library also offers the Check It OUTside series, the library’s newest weekly program that takes summer reading outside and into the great outdoors.
The event is set to rotate parks each week and feature a variety of activities for participants, including yoga, dance, story time, arts & crafts, hula hooping and more.
Families with toddlers, young kids and teens who want to enjoy outdoor fun will love this series.
Also available this summer is the Afternoons at the Library series, a weekly event for children and their families aged six to eleven, is being offered this summer.
The Santa Clarita Public Library has a variety of events at each location, including the Cabrillo Marine Mobile Aquarium’s July 25 stop at the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Branch.
Participants can get to witness marine life up close and discover what it’s like to live under the water.
The Lunch at the Library program, which is financed by grants and offers free lunches to children and teenagers 18 years of age and under, is another exciting initiative of the Santa Clarita Public Library.
The lunches is set to be available Monday through Friday, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at the Old Town Newhall and Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy locations.
Families are encouraged to take advantage of the free lunch at the library, no ID required!
The summer reading program and lunch at the library will run until July 29.
