Santa Clarita was included in the top five safest cities in America based on a survey of 200 of the nation’s largest cities.

Santa Clarita ranked fourth safest in the nation between McAllen, TX and Plano, TX. The city has consistently broken the top ten list for three consecutive years.

Five different metrics were considered: violent crime, property crime, vehicular mortality rate, drug poisoning mortality rate and the percentage of the population engaging in excessive drinking.

Leadership with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and the City of Santa Clarita were acknowledged by the Santa Clarita Economic Development Corporation for their ”tireless” efforts.

In a recent meeting with the SCVEDC board, Captain Diez of the SCV Sheriff’s station offered useful resources and programs for residents.
