Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Staffing Extra Patrols Amid No Kings Protests

On Saturday, June 14th, No Kings protests are set to take place across the nation to “defend against aggression by dictators” with a Walmart Heiress endorsing the events.

Individuals across the country, including in Santa Clarita, are set to join together in the No Kings Protest, to “defend against aggression by dictators” during the birthday celebration of President Donald Trump in Washington D.C.

The anti-Trump protests has gained support from Christy Walton, an heiress to Walmart.

Last Sunday, Walton paid for a full page ad in the New York Times encouraging Americans to participate in the No Kings Protests.

A spokesperson for Walton told CBS MoneyWatch that Sunday’s ad “focuses on encouraging people to engage peacefully and civically in next weekend’s events on June 14th.”

Walmart sought to distance the retail chain from Walton’s ad. “The advertisements from Christy Walton are in no way connected to or endorsed by Walmart. She does not serve on the board or play any role in decision-making at Walmart,” the company said in a statement to CBS MoneyWatch.

A Craig’s List ad has also been circulating online asking for blue collar liberals for focus groups in the Los Angeles area in support of the protests. However, that was later found to be a prank made by podcasters.

The ad was a prank placed by a pair of podcasters, Joey LaFleur and Logan Quiroz, the Associated Press reported on June 10. The ad was intended as part of their show, “Goofcon1,” and had nothing to do with the anti-ICE protests.

“I literally had no idea it was ever going to be connected to the riots. It was a really weird coincidence,” LaFleur told the AP.

On June 6, the podcasters livestreamed their conversations with people who had answered the ad, according to Fact Check.

As protests have been ongoing in the Los Angeles area for the last week, additional Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies have been on the streets to help keep the peace alongside the Los Angeles Police Department.

Despite more of our deputies in the L.A. area, this is not taking away deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley, Deputy Robert Jensen, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said in a previous KHTS article.

The LASD is currently working on a modified staffing model known as a “12/12 schedule,” which pulls deputies off scheduled days off and puts more boots on the ground in town, Jensen said.

“Residents shouldn’t worry about our resources being depleted,” Jensen said. “This shift means we’ll have even more visible patrols here in Santa Clarita.”

The No Kings Protest is set to take place on the corner of McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard, Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  1. At no place in body of this article is the increase of patrols for the Saturday morning protest at good trouble corner addressed. 12 hr shifts do not address headline.

  2. What a bunch of losers!! Did they whimper & stamp their feet this much when Obama deported people ???

    • The Obama Administration did import, but did so following the constitutional right of due process granted to every detainee. The Obama Administration did not usurp the power granted to the governors of each state where deportations took place. Obama did not lie about riots and violence by showing the same endless loop of isolated incidents that took place within a 2 block area in LA proper and falsely claim the entire city was on fire. Obama’s Administration did not deploy the military onto our city streets and proclaim there will be a military presence in every city in the US.
Obama did fear free speech, the people’s right to peacefully assemble, petition the government or dissent.
More importantly, Obama took an oath to protect and defend our constitution from enemies, both foreign and domestic. Obama upheld his oath, upheld the constitution and supported the rule of law. Trump does not.

If you think the No King’s Day protest was only about deportations, then explain why protests took place internationally throughout the United Kingdom, Germany Australia, Mexico and South America? These protests transcend just immigration, but rather speak to the rise of authoritarianism, disregard to the rule of law, the dismantling of our constitution, the violation of the rights of the people and downright inhumanity shown to others.

The hypocrisy of Republicans and the MAGA cult blaming “illegals” is beyond the pale considering Trump is a convicted felon, rapist, and a treasonous insurrectionist.

  3. What a bunch of haters hating on the half of America called “Republicans”

  4. Not sure what the complaints. He won the electoral votes and told everyone what he was going to do once elected. He is not a politician so he does what he said he was going to do instead of just talking like his opponent did for votes.
