The Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative is expected to make a selection for the veteran set to receive a home donated by a community member.
“The collaborative wishes to thank the many veterans who have submitted applications to be considered to receive the $500,000 home, which is to be awarded because of the generosity of a local anonymous donor,” said organizers in a statement.
A six-person selection committee is now processing each of the applications, and will select 10 finalists, who will then be re-evaluated a second time based on the criteria provided by the donor, according to the collaborative.
From that group, a final four are set to be selected to meet with a separate interview committee, organizers said.
“A final decision will be made, and the identity of the successful recipient will be announced to the community. The home will go into escrow, and it is anticipated that the Christmas holiday will make some family quite happy,” said Collaborative officials.
Should some other individual, business or group be willing to provide an additional residence to a veteran, contact the Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative at (661) 670-8680.
