SCV Rotary Club Donates Turkeys, Chickens To Santa Clarita Grocery

The Rotary Club of Santa Clarita donated turkeys and chickens to Santa Clarita Grocery Monday evening, giving those in need a Thanksgiving Dinner.

Monday morning, the Rotary Club of Santa Clarita purchased poultry that was delivered to Santa Clarita Grocery.

“I get to be here today with our friends in the community that are feeding those less fortunate than most of us,” said Scott Hoolahan, past president of the Rotary Club. “The Rotary Club made a donation of 275 turkeys and 200 chickens that this group, Santa Clarita Grocery will make sure the people in the community who need it most get it.”

Shortly after the turkeys and chickens were delivered, Santa Clarita Grocery distributed the donated birds to families in need in our community.

Santa Clarita Grocery is a nonprofit that relies on the generosity of its volunteers to provide food to those in the Santa Clarita Valley who face insufficient food supplies.

Produce, canned and dried goods, meats, deli items, and baked goods are all part of the weekly guest grocery basket.

Upon approval of your application, staff will load your groceries into your car. The distribution days each week are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
