Six Flags Magic Mountain To Activate Chaperone Policy For Fright Fest Extreme

Under a new policy starting Sept. 7, thrill seekers 15 years old or younger at Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Halloween event must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

“The safety of our guests and associates has always been our top priority at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Over the past few years, there have been increasing incidents of unruly and inappropriate behavior across our industry and at other major entertainment venues. We are committed to keeping Six Flags Magic Mountain a place where thrill-seekers of all ages can come together to enjoy a one-of-a-kind park full of fun experiences,” read a policy statement from Six Flags.

The new chaperone policy requires that all guests 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old to be admitted to and remain in the park during Fright Fest Extreme between 4 p.m. and closing.

The chaperone must present valid government photo identification at ticket entry, and may not accompany more than 10 guests aged 15 or younger per day.

Additionally, the chaperone must accompany their party during entry, remain inside the park during their visit and be available by phone throughout their stay.

Guests who are 16 years of age or older may also be asked to provide valid government photo identification to prove they do not require a chaperone.

Guests who do not respect the new chaperone policy can and will “be subject to ejection” from the park.

“We believe these changes will help ensure that Six Flags Magic Mountain continues to have a positive atmosphere where thrill-seekers can gather for a day of safe, fun, and thrilling experiences,” reads the Six Flags website.

Knotts’ Berry Farm, whose parent company just compelled a merger with Six Flags, implemented a similar policy in 2022 after seeing multiple fights among juveniles.

Fright Fest Extreme transforms the 260-acre theme park into a haunted scream park of epic proportions, captivating horror enthusiasts and thrill-seekers with a record combined total of 20 haunted attractions, including five new haunted houses inspired by Stranger Things, Trick ‘r Treat, Army of the Dead, The Conjuring, Annabelle, The Nun, and the SAW franchise.

  1. At first, this seems too restrictive and a lot of scv kids would miss out. But perhaps it’s a good rule to implement since it will allow MM to kick out the unruly ones! I’m hoping if your 15 year-old is there and not causing problems they will just look the other way.

  2. Hope it works to keep things under control. However,
Photo id! You don’t need that to vote! And I thought some people don’t know how to get id’s?

  3. Dave, words well spoken!

  4. Which night will they hoist the Schiavo Deficit Piñata?
