Over the weekend, there were a total of 15 people arrested in Santa Clarita, with a majority being for drug-related offenses.

With a slew of drug-related crimes, the most common was for possession of drugs with the intent to sell. Additionally, there was an individual in prison with drugs and a 31-year-old Valencia man was taken into custody for possession of narcotics.

In the same vein, four people were arrested for driving under the influence, one of which was on drugs and had alcohol in his system.

Outside of drugs and alcohol, a transient in the Canyon Country area was arrested for embezzlement totaling over $400.

With just one domestic violence charge, the number of violent crimes this past weekend reached a record low. The following arrests were made for charges that did not escalate to violence but could have been dangerous: one for carrying a dirk or dagger and another for possessing a switchblade in a public place.

Other arrests over the weekend include insurance fraud and disobeying court-ordered restraining orders.
