Thin Blue Line Flag Returns To Saugus Football Game

A Thin Blue Line Flag flew over the field at the Saugus High School football game against Golden Valley on Friday night, despite an ongoing ban against carrying the flag out onto the field before games.

According to witnesses, two players came running onto the field after the initial entrance of the rest of the team. One boy carried the traditional American flag, the other, the Thin Blue Line flag.

The player carrying the Thin Blue Line Flag paused before the stands to wave the flag for the gathered audience, before moving on to the rest of the game.

Traditionally the Saugus football team makes their entrance before games by running onto the field carrying flags, including the U.S. Flag and Centurion flags.

This year, the “thin blue line” flag, which is a variation of the U.S. Flag in support of law enforcement also made its appearance, leading to heated controversy.

Due to backlash stemming from social media, Superintendent Mike Kuhlman with the William S. Hart Union High School District banned the appearance of the “thin blue line” flag at football games in the seventh week of the season.

Kuhlman reportedly announced the decision without bringing it before the rest of the Hart District Board.

The Thin Blue Line Flag remains banned from football games, although other local officials have commended the player’s decision to continue displaying the flag.

“I’m proud of the Saugus football team for again displaying their support of law enforcement! We should take pride in this support, not shame it,” wrote Congressman Mike Garcia, R Santa Clarita in a Twitter post. “Principled based behavior (not fear-based) at its best!

  1. Let’s see if they do anything to this kid. See if the coach sticks up for him and bends to the board like he did before. Weak coach.

  2. Kid violated the coach and the board’s wishes. Why would coach stick up for him? That would be a weak coach.

“In deference to his commitment to inclusivity, kindness and respect (just loving people), and because the team never voted as a unit to carry this banner, Coach decided to discontinue this practice,” Kuhlman said.

  3. Yeah, that’s it!
Stick it to the Liberaltards, Jack-Asses, welfare-for-votes dupes., Dummy’s, mAlice, Bob Weaver, Johnny Utah, and the rest of the rabble.

  4. How dare you heathans be Patriotic & add another symbol of respect for law enforcement——don’t you know the trends are vote for & allow defunding LE, Trans grooming for children, Kim Jun-Un haircuts, male buns, blue, purple, etc. hair, tax more & more for hard workers that work a horrible 40 hr. work week with True Pride.

  5. Nobody should mess with the American flag. Come up with a new blue flag.

  6. I agree with Rosie. Respect the American flag . LEO should come up with a completely different flag.

  7. Arn Ziffel, You may have “Pride” driving your Smart car or Prius with your Kim Un-Jun or male bun haircut while consuming a latte, boba & tofu, flying the hammer & sickle flag, but most normal Patriotic humans have no problem adding a “thin blue line” to our beloved American flag, we find it to be a deeper love & respect for America & those who keep it/us strong! 🇺🇸

  8. You have no idea what “most normal patriotic humans” think.
Altering the flag for any reason is unacceptable. It is unpatriotic to change the flag to your liking and say hateful presumptuous remarks about people who don’t agree with you.

    • They are NOT changing the national flag. It is an accepted variant usually flown with and lower to the national flag. Get over your liberaltard-problem-imagining.
If you were silent you would sound smarter.
      😀

  9. The flag that people view as supporting the police was flown at Charlottesville’s Unite the Right demonstrations alongside the confederate flag. Trucks with far right wing drivers flaunt it with their Trump flags. It has become associated with white supremacy, even tho it mightn’t mean that to you. The people have ruined what started out as support of the police.

  10. Clearly the coach does not have control of his team. Sad that he has become weak and his team walks over him. No wonder many would be great players of color choose to go to Valencia intead of Saugus. Time for a new coach. Especially with his weak record.
