A Valencia man was identified as the victim found dead in a vehicle Sunday afternoon in Newhall.

Rey Moldanado, 49, from Valencia was the individual found, said Sarah Ardalani, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

Around 12:45 p.m. Sunday first responders received multiple reports of a person unconscious in a vehicle in the parking lot near Starbucks on Lyons Avenue and Orchard Village Road in Newhall, said Melanie Flores, a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department at the time of the incident.

When units arrived on scene, Moldanado was pronounced dead on arrival, according to officials.

As of Monday morning, the cause of death is still unknown, according to Ardalani.
