Wendy’s Anticipated To Test ‘Surge-Pricing’ Next Year

Wendy’s new CEO Kirk Tanner indicated the fast food chain would test “dynamic-pricing” similar to Uber’s “surge-pricing” next year in 2025.

On a call with analysts, the Ex-PepsiCo Executive outlined a $55 million expansion of technology investments. During the fourth quarter 2023 earnings, the Ohio-based company expects its digital sales to reach $2 billion in 2024, “a full year earlier than planned,” said Tanner.

The company also reported a $20 million dollar investment in digital signage that will make updating fluctuating prices quickly, according to Nation’s Restaurant News who first reported Wendy’s dynamic pricing model.

The fast-food burger restaurant has also begun to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its menu rolling out “Wendy’s Fresh AI” program at several test restaurants, according to Tanner.

Tanner said the company has rolled out its “Wendy’s Fresh AI” in several restaurants, “where we see ongoing improvement in speed and accuracy.”

Wendy’s also announced a partnership with Cinnabon to bring “Cinnabon Pull-Aparts” to their breakfast menu. On Feb. 29, the new item is set to be free for customers at Wendy’s restaurants during breakfast hours only through the app.
