This additional case joins over 530 cases of COVID-19 that have been reported within Los Angeles County as of Monday afternoon. Seven people have died in Los Angeles County as a result of the coronavirus.

There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Stay home when you are sick.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  1. Although we are still at the beginning stage of this pandemic we are seeing, on a daily basis, the rise in cases here in the SCV. Far too many don’t seem to care about anything other than themselves or the fact they may be spreading the virus to others. Along with your rights come your responsibilities. Own up to your social contract- practice social distancing as well as social discipline. And stop being assholes!

    • This is so true, eventually martial law is going to be the only way this gets controlled.

    • Agree 100% with this!
You have to remember, if you get the virus today, you picked it up between 5 and 14 days ago, so think about that, folks. Just because you don’t have it today doesn’t mean you’re out of the woods yet!

    • Amen!!! I’ve tried to word it nicely, but maybe my approach is all wrong. Maybe I need to say it more like Denny. Stay home. The spread in L.A. county as a whole is getting out of control quickly. Ten diadnosed cases here actually means that 5 to 10 times that amount actually exist in the community. That is true for everywhere. And don’t forget people are still going out and about in areas where it may be even more prevalent and coming back home. Many people are being completely selfish and have a complete disregard for others. Your actions could end up killing someone. That is complete asshole mentality.

  2. In addition to practicing social distancing and taking care of ourselves and others, kindness still matters. This pandemic has brought out the worst in people in social media and in article commentary. Please be respectful and kind. Harsh words will not cause anyone to change their behavior.

  3. Please stay home during the “stay-at-home” order unless it is for groceries, medications or an emergency or of course if you are in industry that is deemed neccessary. And please, if you’re sick, don’t even go out for these reasons. Have a neighbor,
a friend, or a service that delivers leave these things at your doorstep. Parents need to be diligent about not letting your kids get together in groups and this includes your teenage kids. Kids are often asymptomatic with this virus, but can still pass it on to their elderly grandparent or a friend with a weekened immune system. Why take the risk of being responsible for something like that. Be respectful an considerate of others who may not fair as well or even survive if they are infected. It upsets me to see the lack of care and compation many people have for others. If they don’t think it will affect them, who cares. How can people have that attitude? It puts other people at such risk. The sooner we comply, hopefully the sooner this will be over and with less serious fallout. Then everyone can get back to normal. What we do now dramatically affects the way this plays out. A month, two months of changes, will be something we all look back on as “remember when we had to follow the stay at home order.” That’s a lot better than a huge catastrophy with who knows how many victims.

  4. Hey, all you assholes out there, stop being assholes!

  5. Why haven’t we heard from Kaiser SCV? Have there been any cases there?

    • Kaiser SCV is not a hospital, they are medical offices meant for getting routine vaccinations or minor check ups/urgent care. They do not have any patients there who stay overnight and they do not perform surgery of any kind. The actual Kaiser Hospital is in Panorama City and I’m sure there are cases there as well.

  6. The folks fighting each other at Costco for TP and disinfectant will ironically be the cause of more community spread.

  7. Ok so SCV has 1.88% of confirmed cases and that percentage is jumping daily. People please stay home! There are infected among us and they are exposing many unnecessary!

    • Especially since experts predict that for every confirmed case , they are actually five to ten more cases unconfirmed, so technically that puts us at 50-100, which could increase rapidly if people don’t comply. And yes, they are exposing people and among those could be someone’s grandma, a person with a compromised immune system, a person with underlying health conditions. This is extremely serious and could be fatal for those people.

  8. Hello everyone, if everyone thought like this … we would be fine … I work at a gas station and believe that people only stop to buy lottery and scratchers … they sneeze and cough without covering … I know that my colleagues and I we are at imminent risk … a custumer told my coworker “why you cleaning up if we were all going to get sick anyway ” another say yesterday “are you ladys are scared” because we trying to disinfect every hour. If they don’t care they health I care mine and for another’s custumers. people with that thought are the ones who don’t care for themselves unless for the others .. .if I could stay at home I would … but every day I go to my work taking risks no only me many cashiers around the city.

  9. It is paramount that we ALL need to “act as if “we are infected. We could already be.It takes a few weeks to know.!!Wake up.Turn on your survivor mode everyone!!!!
