The fifth coronavirus death at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has been confirmed Tuesday, as COVID-19 cases across the Santa Clarita Valley top 570, officials said.
Due to privacy laws, information on the deceased individual, including age and underlying health conditions, are unable to be released, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for the hospital.
As of Tuesday, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has administered 863 tests for COVID-19, 156 of which have returned positive, while 789 have come back negative, and 32 remain pending, according to the spokesperson.
While 12 COVID-19 patients are currently in the hospital as of Tuesday, a total of 54 have recovered and been discharged, Moody added.
The patients are being treated on a designated floor of the newly-built patient tower, with each patient receiving the correct level of care without using beds in the Intensive Care Unit, according to the hospital.

So there have been 78 patients hospitalized in total at Henry Mayo? 54 recovered, 19 are still hospitalized and 5 have died? Were the 54 hospitalized or just in the emergency room? These daily updates do not seem to be helpful when they always seem incomplete. Far less than one percent of the population has tested positive, 0.00172% have died. I am positive there will be far more deaths from our government’s reaction to this, from suicide, opioids, alcoholism, diabetes, and I could list many more. How many people have died of the flu in Santa Clarita, or is that not happening anymore? Just curious.
Really?!? We are only a few months into this illness! We have no idea how many will die between now and next March from COVID-19. It doesn’t make sense yet to be comparing it to anything else.
