The 6th Santa Clarita coronavirus COVID-19 case has been confirmed Friday, officials said.
The number of cases of coronavirus in Santa Clarita has now risen to six, with four in the City of Santa Clarita and additional cases in Stevenson Ranch and Castaic, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
None of these cases are currently being treated at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, according to a spokesperson for the hospital.
In mild cases of coronavirus, patients are requested to self-quarantine at home, saving hospital resources for those in need, according to Henry Mayo officials.
Public health officials are unable to release the specific location or identity of these coronavirus patients due to privacy laws.
The Department of Public Health will follow up appropriately to evaluate what prior contacts that COVID-19 patient may have had, what their interactions with the community may have had and will help identify any other at-risk community people that could have been exposed, said Dr. Bud Lawrence with Henry Mayo of the five previous cases which tested positive at the hospital.

This increase in cases reflected a trend felt across the southland, as the Los Angeles Department of Public Health reported 61 new casesFriday, for a total of 101 new cases throughout Los Angeles County reported in the last 48 hours, according to Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the Los Angeles Department of Public Health.
“Thank you to everyone who has committed to solving the spread of the virus, who has been practicing all of the social distancing measures we’ve asked for … we are so appreciative and everything you’re doing really counts,” said Ferrer. “Please assume that COVID-19 is widespread and that even without being tested, you still may be infected and you still may be around others who are infected. That means that you may expose someone and you may be exposed to someone.”

There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, the CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

KHTS Radio Santa Clarita Radio – Santa Clarita News
I realize you cannot divulge information on a personal nature but why can’t you at least say ages, did they have any underlying factors, did they recently come from oversees. Anything.
I have a next door neighbor that goes in and out, driving who know where daily. She has proclaimed that she doesn’t care if she gets the virus or not! She says she will die if it’s her time. This is her choice but my concern is how many others she will infect when she gets the virus. She has underlying issues and in her 70’s. We are very concerned!
Please, let’s think of everyone in this time and not just our own situations. Many families are still allowing kids and teenagers to get together in groups, where they are more likely to contract the virus. Those kids may not show symptoms, but are still carriers and passing the virus on to more susceptible people with other health conditions. I know they get bored, I have two and they’re already about to lose it, but it is neccessary to slow the spread. I have seen so many posts where people are like so what about the elderly and immunocompromised, we’ll all be fine, we should get to go about our lives. That’s so selfish. Everyone will be able to get back to their lives quicker, if we can do what is asked of us now. The more cases, the more spread and along with that comes more individuals at risk for serious complications, a drain on hospitals already lacking neccessary supplies, the need to close businesses longer, the need to keep people out of work longer, the restrictions to go on longer. Compliance means getting back to as much normality as possible and keeping the most people safe. And yes, that includes the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.
I’ve seen lots of people walking like it’s heaven outside , plz respect the quarantine and stay home and safe , there’s actually people that care about life !!
Going for a run or walking the dog is healthy, standing in a line to costco for something you may need in like a month is not. What do you think? Why so much consumerism right now? They should be letting only a certain number of people in per hour.
Please everyone just stay in the backyard or porch, balcony, the roof. Anywhere but the sidewalks and walk ways PLEASE!!! Spreading the virus is possible even if u are not symptomatic. I’m just asking for everyone to be mindful of mail carriers risking their health every day. Mail carriers always get over looked because were so used to them. They are a part of our daily routine. Thanks…the daughter of an amazing Mail carrier!!!!
Walking is fine …. Standing in line at Costco or other grocery stores is a different story. Breathing some fresh air, waking with your family keeping a safe social distance is heaven.
My doctor said I have to go walk 30 minutes per day is okey
Society can’t shut down for the 4 %
The 4 percent are my mother and father you SOB…
Please tell them to stay home then
How are these people even being “confirmed” ? I thought there were no tests available? I also want to know if any of these people had a flu or vax shot and their age? We need data not just blind socialist craziness. This pandemic can make many people homeless regardless. Stay healthy, take your vitamins be wary of so-called vaccination and ask questions
Yoda…you should consider changing your name. The real Yoda is full of wisdom and kindness, you however are full of shit and spew it carelessly.
Testing would be great for all those not symptomatic since safe distancing is not sinking in. Testing for all even better. I have many friends and family in the NYC area who are suffering greatly. Please stay home, stay safe and be smart beautiful people of Santa Clarita. We need to be in this together. I have witnesses great tension and fighting in supermarkets and other stores in the past weeks and it’s not going to help, please be respectful of one and other
