Assemblyman Tom Lackey’s, R-Palmdale, staff confirmed Wednesday that the legislator has been hospitalized since Sunday after contracting COVID-19.
Assemblyman Tom Lackey, who represents the 36th State Assembly District, has been hospitalized since Sunday, July 5.
“Assemblyman Lackey has been hospitalized since Sunday for COVID-19 complications,” reads a statement from George Andrews, Lackey’s Chief of Staff. “He is receiving excellent treatment at Palmdale Regional Medical Center and anticipates a full recovery.”
Lackey is one of five members of the California State Assembly to test positive for COVID-19, prompting State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon to delay the Assembly’s the return to session.
“The Assembly will remain in recess until further notice,” Rendon said in a statement issued Monday. “We have taken this decision, as we did in March, to protect members, staff and the public from exposure, and it comes in light of recent news of positive coronavirus tests in the Capitol.”
The Assembly was previously scheduled to return to session on July 13.
