A 5 Freeway pursuit suspect led law enforcement on a high-speed chase in Santa Clarita Monday morning, reaching speeds of over 130 miles per hour, officials said.
The Santa Clarita pursuit started at about 10:39 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway near Highway 138, according to Officer Eric Priessman with the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office.
“We attempted to pull over the vehicle for high speeds,” Priessman said. “The suspect failed to yield.”
The pursuit was briefly canceled due to the high speeds, but was picked back up at Magic Mountain Parkway, according to Priessman.
After fleeing down the Newhall Pass, the suspect exited the freeway at Roxford Street in Sylmar, according to officials.
As of 11 a.m., the suspect is being taken into custody by law enforcement in the Sylmar area. Charges and the name of the suspect are unknown as of Monday morning.

Just curious…for any current or retired LE…at 130mph does the driver automatically lose his license for a minimum of a year, with a mandatory 30 day impound on the vehicle? in addition to the other charges of fleeing, reckless driving etc…
