A robbery suspect was arrested after being connected to an incident on Castaic where he assaulted a woman after being seen touching himself while driving.

On Friday, July, 8 deputies responded to the 31700 block of Castaic Road in Castaic on a report of indecent exposure and a possible robbery suspect, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon arrival, deputies learned the victim was driving her big rig truck on the 5 Freeway northbound, near Castaic when she observed the suspect touching himself inappropriately in a vehicle driving alongside her,” Arriaga said.

The victim exited the highway where she came to a stop on Castaic Road, where she was then approached by the suspect who began to yell obscenities at her, Arriaga said.

“During a verbal argument, the victim began to record the suspect,” Arriaga added.

The robbery suspect became angry, and forcefully took the victim’s phone and caused damage by tossing it to the ground, Arriaga said.

“During the struggle (for) the phone, the victim sustained minor injury,” Arriaga added.

The suspect then got in his vehicle and drove away from the scene before deputies arrived, Arriaga added.

During investigation into the crime, deputies were able to identify the robbery suspect, and later locate him for arrest.

Joseph Huegel, 29, of Castaic, was arrested and booked on robbery with a $350,000 bail.
