Arrests In Santa Clarita Increase As Temperatures Decrease Over The Weekend

Twenty-three arrests were reported over the weekend in Santa Clarita as temperatures decreased, with the majority of bookings for driving under the influence (DUI).

Between Friday, June 17, and Sunday, June 19, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office arrested 23 people, an increase from last weekend’s 18, according to booking logs.

Of the 23 documented arrests, 10 were for DUI-related charges, four were for drugs and four were for domestic violence.

Other arrests that made this weekend’s log included knowingly receiving stolen property, disobeying a court order, possession of tear gas, and possession of a stun gun.

Of the 23 arrested, 15 of those were from addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, or transients, according to booking logs.
