Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an arson after a car was stripped for parts and set ablaze near the Newhall Pass on Christmas Eve.

At about 8:00 p.m., CHP responded to a responded to a fully engulfed vehicle that spread to a quarter acre brush fire near the Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall, according to fire officials.
“The car was completely stripped of its parts and set on fire,” said Lt. Leo Bauer, of the Santa Clarita Valley Station. “There was no one at the scene when we arrived.”

The vehicle was reported stolen and then abandoned off the Old Road. Sheriff’s are investigating the incident as an arson with the LASD Arson and Explosives Detail, added Lt. Bauer.
Forward progress the fire was stopped at approximately 8:45 p.m., according to fire officials.
