A burglary suspect was arrested Monday after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house while she was sleeping in January.
Around 10 a.m. Friday Jan. 6, deputies responded to the 28000 block of Deep Creek Drive in Canyon Country regarding a burglary, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The victim’s ex-boyfriend entered the victim’s home while she was asleep and stole her key ring with attached car key and residence key,” Arriaga said. “The suspect fled as the victim awoke.”
Over the last three months, deputies with the Crime Impact Team learned of the whereabouts of the suspect and arrested him at a motel in the 17900 block of Sierra Highway on Monday, according to Arriaga.
James Duncan, 52, from Newhall, was arrested for felony burglary, Arriaga added.
Duncan was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and later released, according to Arriaga.
