Canyon Country Man Arrested Riding Bike He Allegedly Stole

A Canyon Country man was arrested on felony burglary charges Friday after he was spotted riding a mountain bike he allegedly stole, officials said.

On Friday around 2 a.m., deputies responded to a burglary reported at a Canyon Country business near Soledad Canyon Road and Reuther Avenue, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During the commission of the burglary, a few high-end mountain bikes were stolen,” Miller said.

As deputies were patrolling the area after taking the report, one of the deputies observed a male adult riding a bicycle on Golden Triangle Road, according to Miller.

Upon closer inspection, deputies found that the bike matched the description of one that was taken in the commercial burglary.

“The male adult was detained and the bike was positively identified by the victim as being one that was stolen,” Miller said.

The suspect, Juan Gonzalez, 28, of Canyon Country, was arrested on charges of felony burglary.

This incident remains an active investigation by COBRA detectives.

Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with no bail given, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
