Canyon Country Suspects Arrested After Drugs, Stolen Checks Located In Vehicle

A pair of Canyon Country residents were arrested after deputies found alleged drugs and stolen checks in their vehicle during a routine traffic stop Sunday.

Around 6:15 a.m. Sunday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a code violation near Crossglade and Stillmore Streets in Canyon Country, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon contacting the vehicle’s occupants, an adult female and an adult male, deputies observed narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view,” Miller said.

When deputies searched their vehicle, they recovered methamphetamine, loaded syringes, and a used nitrous oxide tank, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“They also located multiple pieces of mail and pre-signed checks not belonging to either suspect,” Miller added.

The driver, Brittany Longnecker, 36, and Ronald Ausborne, 31, both from Canyon Country were arrested on charges of felony identity theft, and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Miller said.

Longnecker, who has prior drug-related convictions, was additionally charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with priors.

Both suspects were transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Ausborne was cited and released with a future court date.

Longnecker remains in custody without bail.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
