Blueface Returns To Court After Alleged Involvement In Newhall Shooting

Rapper “Blueface” returned to court Friday for a pretrial hearing after his alleged involvement in a gunfight between vehicles in Newhall, officials said.

Jonathan Porter, also known by his rap pseudonym Blueface, was arrested in November 2018 after the incident, which ended with the vehicle carrying Porter crashing into the center divider on the 14 Freeway, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, at the time of the incident.

“Under the course of the investigation, detectives found evidence of a robbery prior to the shooting incident,” Miller said.

Porter was released on a $50,000 bond for assault with a deadly weapon charges, Miller said.

He responded to the arrest in a video on social media that was filmed as he walked out of the Sheriff’s Station.

“Y’all already know I’m out on bail,” said Porter in the video. “Stop asking if they freed me. I freed me.”

Dubbed “LA’s most controversial rapper” by Pitchfork Magazine in October 2018, Porter has been no stranger to law enforcement.

He had previously been arrested in Santa Clarita in 2016, according to arrest logs, but the charges were not available at the time of publication of this story.

More recently, in Feb. 2019 Porter was arrested and charged with felony possession of a loaded firearm before he was subsequently released on $35,000 bail.

Blueface is most famous for his single “Thotiana,” which debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Top 100 and went on to peak at No. 8.

As of Nov. 2018, he is signed with Cash Money Records, which has been home to a number of notable hip hop artists, including Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake.

Porter is set to return to court for pretrial on Dec. 18.

  1. These creatures simply make “hip hop” which is PC for “gangster rap”, and parents allow their children to listen to this simpleton crap glorifying despicable lifestyles which the sheepishly foolish children listen to thinking they’re cool to fit in and start behaving/dressing like these cretins and the trouble starts—look forward to smoking, drugs, promiscuity, tattoos, jail, etc., what a wonderful emulation —-

  2. Glad this creature was caught before it could cause more crime! Wonder what other horrible things he’s done!?!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
