Ian Pike, 26, pleaded no contest last month to one count of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence and is accused of being under the influence while driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee when it tumbled down a 1,500-foot embankment and killing Jacquelyn Cork, 25, of Redlands, said Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Pike was sentenced three years probation, 32 days in jail, 50 days of community labor, ordered to enter an six-month alcohol program and pay a restitution that has yet to be determined, Santiago said. Nobody has submitted restitution forms as of Tuesday.

Pike was not in the vehicle as it tumbled down the steep embankment and was hospitalized. Cork was the only passenger in the vehicle, according to CHP officials.

Pike was arrested in January and paid a $100,000 bond, said Ricardo Santiago, a spokesman for the District Attorney’s Office.

Pike’s vehicle was found 1,500 feet below at the bottom of the ravine.

Five days after the crash, officials utilized the help of Timberline Helicopters to assist with the recovery of the vehicle.

The crew had to use a K-Max helicopter and an external load-sling to recover the vehicle from the ravine.

California Highway Patrol officers worked with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the collision.

  1. Score another win for the DA!! 32 days in jail, so out in 2 weeks? What a travesty & a mockery of a fair justice system!
No contest, but how about remorse? Doubtful when he describes his bruise as the “gnarliest” he’s ever had!

  2. Somehow got off EASY!!! Should’ve gotten 32 years… “HIS” negligence took a life
