Rancho Pico Teacher Pleads Not Guilty To Being Drunk, Having Taser On Campus

A Rancho Pico Junior High School teacher that allegedly showed up to campus drunk and with a taser has been charged.

On Wednesday, teacher Emilee Renison, 27, from Santa Clarita, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content, possessing or consuming an alcoholic beverage on school property and weapons on school ground, a taser, and plead not guilty, said Ricardo Santiago, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

On Monday, April 19, deputies responded to Rancho Pico Jr. High School on the 26200 block of Valencia Boulevard in Stevenson Ranch regarding a teacher possibly intoxicated, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at the time of the arrest.

“Deputies arrived on scene and detained a female adult, later confirmed to be the suspect as she returned to campus in her vehicle,” Arriaga said.

Deputies conducted field sobriety tests on the teacher and determined she was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“During a search of her property, deputies located an open alcoholic container and a taser,” Arriaga said.

Renison is due back in court on Friday, June 24 for a pretrial hearing.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
