Santa Clarita law enforcement experienced a sharp increase in crime over the weekend, making 30 arrests —10 more than the previous week. Authorities say the spike included a range of offenses, from DUIs to serious felonies, with a mix of local and out-of-town offenders.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrest logs, 13 of those arrested were from outside the Santa Clarita Valley, while 17 were local residents. Law enforcement categorized 16 of the arrests as felonies, with the remaining 14 classified as misdemeanors.

Among the arrests, seven individuals were taken into custody for driving under the influence. Another seven were charged with possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia, three of whom were already incarcerated at the time of their new charges. 

Two women, one from Acton and another from Palmdale, were arrested for organized retail theft with intent to sell or exchange stolen goods. 

One suspect was taken into custody for obstructing or resisting an executive officer, while another faced charges of embezzlement exceeding $400. Law enforcement also arrested an individual for damaging property.

Four arrests were related to domestic violence incidents. Two suspects were charged with taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. One repeat offender was booked for petty theft after having two or more prior convictions.

Another individual was detained for identity theft, accused of fraudulently using someone else’s credit or identifying information. 

One suspect was charged with battery on police or emergency personnel without causing injury, while another faced a charge of battery, resulting in great bodily injury. A final arrest was made for failure to appear in court for a traffic warrant.
