Drugs, Guns Recovered During Canyon Country Traffic Stop

A North Carolina man was arrested and released on a citation Thursday in Canyon Country, after allegedly being found in possession of an unregistered firearm and narcotics.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday, deputies patrolling near Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway in Canyon Country, observed a vehicle with multiple vehicle code violations, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station

“As they contacted the driver, deputies observed a firearm within reach of the driver,” Arriaga said.

During a search of the vehicle in Canyon Country, deputies recovered the loaded firearm, which was unregistered, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also located, according to Arriaga.

Michael Hahn, 40, from Dallas, North Carolina, was ultimately arrested for possession of a controlled substance with a loaded firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, both felonies and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, Arriaga added.

Hahn was taken from Canyon Country and booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station and subsequently released on citation to appear in court at a later date.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
