DUI Arrests Lead Santa Clarita Weekend Crime Activity; Attempted Carjacking Among Notable Incidents

Law enforcement agencies made a total of 25 arrests across Santa Clarita over the weekend, marking a slight increase from the 23 arrests reported the previous weekend.

Driving under the influence was by far the most common offense, accounting for 16 of the arrests recorded.

One of the more notable incidents involved an attempted carjacking arrest. Authorities arrested a 27-year-old Newhall man in connection with the case.

Of the 25 total arrests, four were felony arrests while the remaining 21 were misdemeanors.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Area office made 12 arrests during the weekend, while deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station accounted for the remaining 13.

Beyond DUI-related offenses, law enforcement reported one arrest for possession of a controlled substance for sale, one arrest for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or above, two arrests related to domestic violence, one arrest for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia while in prison or jail, one arrest for criminal threats and one arrest for driving with a suspended or revoked license for reasons other than DUI.
