An alleged DUI driver was arrested after leading California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area officers on a pursuit that ended at the suspect’s home Monday evening.
Around 8:20 p.m. Monday, a CHP officer attempted to stop a possible DUI driver in a 2008 Chevrolet sedan who was weaving in lanes on the southbound 5 Freeway near Roxford Street, said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
“The driver of the vehicle passed the next available exit despite being given instructions by CHP to exit, and it became apparent the driver did not intend to stop,” Burgos-Lopez said.
A pursuit was initiated at approximately 8:23 p.m.
The DUI driver exited the 5 Freeway at Sunland Boulevard, and continued on surface streets.
The pursuit suspect voluntarily stopped in front of their residence on Ratner Street in Sun Valley, according to officials.
Patrick King, 61, from Sun Valley, was taken into custody without incident for DUI and felony evading, according to Burgos-Lopez.
There were no injuries to officers or the subject, no damage to property, and no use of force.
The driver was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.
