A Canyon Country man was arrested for elder abuse Monday after he allegedly assaulted his friend.
Around 11:50 a.m. Monday, a man entered the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station lobby to report elder abuse, said Robert Jensen, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The responding deputy immediately recognized several traumatic injuries to the man, including strangulation marks and a large contusion on his head. Recognizing the seriousness of the injuries, the deputy summoned medical personnel to treat the victim and began an investigation into the alleged suspect,” Jensen said.
During the investigation, the victim told deputies who was responsible for his injuries, according to Jensen.
The suspect was located that same day and admitted to the allegations, according to Jensen.
Thomas Bayer, 60, from Canyon Country, was arrested for felony elder abuse causing harm/death to an elder or dependent adult.
Bayer was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and remains in custody as of Tuesday morning, according to Jensen.
Bayer is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
