Family Identifies Man Shot, Killed At Santa Clarita Sports Complex

The family of the man who was killed Saturday night outside of the Santa Clarita Sports Complex has been identified by his family in a GoFundMe.

Joshua Trujillo was the man who was killed in the shooting, according to the GoFundMe.

The shooting was first reported to emergency responders just before 11 p.m. on Centre Pointe Parkway, just outside of the Santa Clarita Valley Sports Complex.

“Upon arrival, deputies located two male adults suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies provided medical aid until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel,” LASD Homicide Bureau officials said at the time of the shooting.

“Both were transported; one was pronounced dead at the hospital, and one is in critical condition,” said Ryan Rau, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The son of a San Fernando pastor, Trujillo leaves behind four children, according to the GoFundMe.

All funds raised through the GoFundMe are set to go towards his children and to pay for his burial.

As of Sunday, the LASD Homicide Bureau confirmed that deputies have a person of interest detained; however, they have not released any additional suspect information.

  1. Shouldn’t the details about what happened be released before hometownstation promotes a gofundme? According to The Signal, this guy fired the first shot and was killed by a third guy who got involved after the shooting started. Seems wild to promote a gofundme for a guy who potentially started the whole thing and wound up dead.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
