A felony pursuit suspect who outran law enforcement earlier in the week was taken into custody Wednesday after a deputy-involved fight in Canyon Country.
Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, deputies were in pursuit of a suspect wanted for reckless driving and possibly driving under the influence on Seco Canyon Road and Pamplico Drive in Saugus, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
During the pursuit, deputies lost sight of the driver on Copper Hill Drive west of Seco Canyon Road, according to Arriaga.
However, deputies were able to get the license plate of the driver, giving them an idea of where he may have lived, according to Sheriff’s officials.
On Wednesday around 2:20 p.m., deputies “went to conduct a follow up at the 21200 block of Willow Weed Way, and when they came into contact with the suspect he became uncooperative,” Arriaga said.

A brief deputy-involved fight ensued with the wanted man, before a woman also became uncooperative.
“Deputies were eventually able to detain the suspects without further incident,” Arriaga said.
The man was transported to the hospital to be medically evaluated, according to Arriaga.
Although initial reports were that a deputy was injured in the altercation, as of Thursday afternoon, “all deputies are okay,” Arriaga said.
Michael Wedgeworth, 18, from Canyon Country was arrested on felony resisting a police officer in addition to several outstanding warrants for his arrest, according to Arriaga.
Samantha Vallerand, 19, from Newhall was also arrested on a felony count of resisting a police officer, Arriaga added.
Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $0 for Vallerand and Wedgeworth was given no bail, according to Arrest records.
