Although calls placed by KHTS on Friday were not immediately responded to, The Signal reported on Friday that SVU officials were investigating a Santa Clarita basketball coach and a reported incident of inappropriate touching.

“It’s still an active investigation — it’s still in the early stages,” said Sgt. Brian Hudson of the Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Unit to a Signal reporter on Friday. “Trinity has been extremely cooperative with us…We still have a lot of people to talk to.”

In an interview with KHTS on Friday, Wally Caddow, managing director at Trinity Classical Academy, stated the incident occurred during a private transaction — not on school grounds while the coach was still acting varsity basketball coach,.

“This was an incident that involved a former student and a basketball coach who also owned a private business,” Caddow said. “This incident or incidents happened with that private business.”

Caddow confirmed that the individual that has been accused of the inappropriate conduct was the varsity boys basketball coach, but that he had been fired by Trinity Classical Academy in 2016 for unrelated circumstances.

“We are cooperating fully with the investigation,” Caddow said.

In an email sent out to parents Friday afternoon, Liz Caddow, Trinity Classical Academy’s Head of School, stated that the allegations involved a former, now-adult student and that the incidents occurred “several years ago.”

“The incidents did not occur within the confines of the school’s campus, nor in the employee’s official employment capacity, but occurred with a student who participated in private training with this individual,” stated the email release Friday.

The identity of the individual that is being investigated has not yet been released.
