Four Hart High School Students In Custody After Firearm Located On Campus

Four students were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a firearm was located at Hart High School in Santa Clarita.

On Wednesday, deputies received reports of a student having a firearm at Hart High School in Newhall, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We are so grateful to the individual who saw something and used the Student Care Line to say something,” said officials with the William S Union High School District in an email to parents. “It is proactive, preemptive and proof that early intervention works. We are stronger as a community when we work together.”

Through deputies’ investigations, a firearm was located, and four students, two male, and two female, were arrested and the investigation is still under investigation, according to Arriaga.

“We also are so thankful to the Hart High School administrators, campus supervisors and the school resource officer Deputy Javier Guzman for their quick, professional work,” Hart officials said. “This situation was resolved shortly after getting the tip on the Student Care Line.”

  1. I am happy to see that students saw or heard something and said something. This is how these tragedies are intercepted. Maybe they weren’t planning anything at school but there is no reason for them to bring firearms to school, period. Glad to see they were arrested for this. There has to be a message that this won’t be tolerated behavior. Newhall has been changing and we are seeing far more gangs moving into that area. These are often trial runs to see if anyone tells. Thankfully someone did.

    • way to assume this is gang related…

it’s not like SVC didn’t suffer a school shooting as a result of a pro gun family where access to a gun by a student was easily available… no, that never happened.

      Glad tragedy was avoided.

    • Of course you assume it’s gang related. It’s not like Santa Clarita didn’t suffer the loss of two young students at the hands of another student of a very pro gun family… no, that never happened. Not in Awesometown

    • Gangs? Try the offspring of Trump-voting Mike Garcia supporters. Like in Saugus. People who own guns need to be responsible for them.

  3. Don’t blame gangs in Newhall, these are SCV youth, homegrown high school students not some imagined outsider! These four live here, shop here, walk among us; these four teens are locals! If you sleep better at night just go on falsely believing that outsiders are always responsible for crime in SCV, but until we all discard the illusion of safety, we won’t be able to address the real issue here. How and why did the student have access to a loaded gun, why did the other 3 feel compelled to keep that secret and what was their intent? Remember Kliebold and Harris were students at Columbine not outsiders. Get your head out of the clouds and the insular bubble that residents of SCV insist still exists. Only then can we start to address the proliferation of guns, senseless violence, metal health issues and marginalized segments of society.

  4. Zip it Alice, you don’t know what your talking about. The 2 boys who were arrested were indeed gang members and have had previous interactions with local deputies.

  5. It was gang related. My kids attend and that’s what it was. Gang related.

  6. Please just die or move to Texas already.

  7. I am just as worried about the people posting these comments. WTF is wrong with you?..

  8. I see your point Uncle

Let’s see how this particular story plays out as Robby continues to spew his obtuse narrative that basically applies to everything from a riot to a cat stuck in a tree.

  9. It’s not just rap music that brain washes these kids it’s punk rock, heavy metal & their parents! & gangs have been in scv for decades & how about the spoiled jocks of scv who committed crimes but just get kept a secret but soon as a Hispanic or black does something its all in the paper

  10. Too bad juveniles don’t get prosecuted In LA county. A lil mental health counseling and sent back home to their dysfunctional families. FACTS.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
