Hit-And-Run Suspect Faces Multiple Charges After Pointing Gun At Victim

A Valencia man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses Tuesday for allegedly pointing a gun at a victim after being involved in a hit-and-run crash, officials said.

On Tuesday around 12:20 a.m., deputies responded to a business parking lot on the 26800 block of Bouquet Canyon Road regarding a hit-and-run collision, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The victim, a male Hispanic (in his) 20’s from North Hollywood, said that his parked car was hit by another car,” Miller said.

When the victim made contact with the person who hit him to exchange insurance information, the suspect allegedly grabbed a gun from his waistband and pointed it towards the victim’s side window, according to officials.

The suspect then reportedly left without providing any information to the victim, according to Miller.

Responding deputies received information about the description of the suspect and vehicle from bystanders.

“A short time later, deputies located a man and vehicle matching the description a few miles away,” Miller said.

Michael Evans, 29, of Valencia, was arrested on charges of carrying an unloaded firearm inside of a vehicle, brandishing a firearm, and a hit-and-run collision, all misdemeanors, Miller said.

Evans was additionally charged with criminal threats, a felony.

Evans was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.

  1. Mikie, You have to have bullets in the gun. You need to enroll in a gun safety class. Pointing a gun at a person without ammunition will get you killed. You are a lucky fellow this time. You big kidder, cut it out.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
