On Tuesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) made eight arrests during a Canyon Country retail theft suppression operation.
On Tuesday, deputies with the CPU conducted a retail theft suppression operation near the Target on Golden Valley Road in Canyon Country, said Deputy Robert Jensen, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The deputies were able to identify and arrest seven suspects for felony offenses and one misdemeanor suspect.
Three individuals from the Antelope Valley were caught with over $2,500 in stolen merchandise from three different local retailers. Deputies determined they also had multiple convictions for prior thefts.
The three remain in custody at this time and are scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
A father-son duo from North Hollywood were caught working to steal cosmetic items, according to Jensen.
In addition to theft charges, the father was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor for involving his juvenile son in the crime.
The juvenile was released on a citation to appear in court with a parent at a later date.
A 66-year-old woman from Canyon Country was booked for shoplifting and released on citation to appear in court at a later date.
A 25-year-old man from Palmdale, booked for outstanding no-bail warrants. He remains in custody at this time.
A 36-year-old man from Van Nuys, booked for having over 160,000 in outstanding warrants. He remains in custody at this time.
“This operation serves as a strong reminder that retail theft will not be tolerated in Santa Clarita,” Jensen said. “Just because the holiday season has ended doesn’t mean we’re letting our guard down. Our teams continue to conduct undercover operations throughout the city to target and deter retail crime.”
The passing of Proposition 36 also means enhancements and stricter punishments for those with prior larceny convictions, Jensen added.
“The targeted operation underscores our ongoing commitment to cracking down on organized retail crime and holding offenders accountable,” Jensen said.

Hopefully our new District Attorney will prosecute this rift raft and not let them go like the last D.A.
The time would be better spent on protecting the lives of children. This means setting up stings to catch pedophiles. They wreak havoc on society by destroying individuals and therefore causing dysfunction in our society.
But I’m probably biased when it comes to big multi-billion dollar corporations. It’s these entities who’ve manufactured this “inflation” crap. Those of us in the know realize it was part of a bigger plan, one that’s been in the making for years. There’s is no REAL inflation, it’s been created out of thin air for the purpose of and I quote: “squeeze, squeeze and squeeze Americans until they can no longer afford to remain in their current lifestyle and will be forced to go without and it will continue on as part of the plan while eventually and I quote “Bringing America to her knees” and making USA’S lifestyle equivalent to that of a third world country”.
Planned by the elite which would include whomever is profiting from Target.
Not to mention, the products and food we are paying for contains all kinds of toxins, poisons, parasites, deadly chemicals and concoctions. So “no” I don’t feel retail theft should be a priority. Not for big corporations at least.
