Known Gang Member Terrorizes Saugus Neighborhood, Residents Say

Saugus residents claim that a known gang member with an extensive criminal background has been stealing from homes and otherwise terrorizing the neighborhood for months.

Most recently, the career criminal was allegedly seen on a Ring camera stealing a bicycle on Alaminos Drive in Saugus.

The surveillance footage was uploaded to the Ring app, notifying nearby residents of the theft.

Within hours of the footage being posted, several residents contacted the victim, identifying the suspect seen riding away on the bicycle as 45-year-old Robert Gurney, according to the concerned resident who uploaded the footage.

In response, multiple nearby residents notified the victim that Gurney has allegedly stolen packages from porches, taken mail, crashed into a parked vehicle and fled the scene and keyed cars over the last several months.

Eyewitnesses claim that Gurney is frequently seen roaming the neighborhoods of Saugus at night, but is allegedly on a different bicycle every time he is spotted.

Residents state that Gurney is easily identifiable as the alleged suspect, due to several highly visible and specific tattoos.

According to court documents, Gurney has had an extensive criminal background and has been arrested on repeated offenses in Orange and Los Angeles Counties in cases stretching back several decades. He was allegedly connected to a neo-nazi gang organization.

While the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station has been notified several times of crimes committed by Gurney, no arrests have been made since December 2022, at which time he was arrested for grand theft, residents claim.

KHTS reached out to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station for comment, but did not get a reply as of the publication of this article.

Saugus residents hope that getting the word out about Gurney could lead to more reports, and eventually an arrest, allowing peace to return to the neighborhood.

  1. Mr. Gurney had better hope the police get him soon.

  2. Keep voting democrat if you want this to continue.

  3. Democrats rejoice. This scumbag will target you as well.

  4. The first thing that needs to happen is Gascon needs to be thrown out and a DA that actually does their job has to be put in. Any wagers on that happening?

  5. Seen him in the neighborhood and he’s not working alone. He’s with a female in a silver Nissan and a male in a black truck. Also cough them shoplifting in local stores. Saugus has been terrorized by these thugs for a wile.

    • I’ve talked to the victim as I recognized Robert as working with the woman in the silver Nissan. Would you happen to have a description of the female? She’s currently in the court system for mail theft. Looking to get whatever we can to the DA to make sure she actually serves time.

  6. Separate him from the bike. Put him in a large black trash bin, upside-down, and covered in black plastic trash bags taped up. Duct tape the bin shut with plenty of tape. Put it in the sun until trash day.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
