Man Arrested After Allegedly Striking Deputy With Vehicle

A man who allegedly struck a deputy with his vehicle back in June was found and arrested Thursday after a reported instance of theft in Ventura County.

On June 11, a deputy with Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was struck by the vehicle of a fleeing suspect.

The deputy was injured and transported to the hospital, according to Ami McBride, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“It was deputy-involved, we’re still on scene,” McBride said at the time. “We transported one.”

Later that night, the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station confirmed via tweet that the deputy injured during the incident is “going to be ok.”

The suspect Dameyon Ramos, 21, of Los Angeles was later arrested in Ventura County for theft on July 2,, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Detectives were notified of the suspect’s capture and on Monday, July 6, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office subsequently filed charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Peace Officer,” Miller wrote.

Ramos is currently being held on $155,000 bail and will formally be arraigned once he is transferred to L.A. County.

Additionally, Ramos has two additional no-bail probation holds out of LA County, according to Miller.

“The injured deputy is still recovering from her injuries,” Miller added. “Thank you for all of your warm get-well wishes.”

  1. We live in a wacko state when it comes to law and order. No bail is destroying our state. Criminals are emboldened to commit crimes because they can get away with it. I recently heard from a friend that was talking with 2 discouraged police officers because they had arrested the same criminal 9 times for the same crime of stealing cars only to be released each time. Three of the nine times it was a car chase, which burns tax payers money. More and more it looks like leaving California may be our only option to live in a safer state. Sad because it’s self-inflicted.

  2. Flip California Red. It’s happening. ??Silent majority

    • I totally agree with Crystal flipping California
RED. Governor Newsom is running the state to the ground. So pathetic. Wake up Dems! do not be so naive
save Cali from further destruction. Vote RED
      On 11/3/2020!!!!

  3. Insane! RAMOS had 2 no bail probation holds—a lot of good that did!!
