Man Arrested In Valencia For Possession Of Two Firearms

A man was arrested Tuesday night after deputies found both an unregistered handgun and an unserialized assault rifle in his vehicle during a traffic stop in Valencia.

During a crime suppression operation by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Juvenile Intervention Team (J-Team) in Valencia Tuesday night, deputies saw a vehicle driving with an expired registration.

“During a traffic stop to warn/cite the driver, they observed a firearm stored in the glove box, as the suspect searched for his registration,” wrote Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the station, in an official post Thursday. “Further inquiry revealed the firearm was not registered.”

Deputies proceeded to search the man’s vehicle, where they found an unserialized assault rifle and ammunition.

The driver, 29-year-old Pepper Jensen of Burbank, was arrested for possession of an assault weapon and possession of an unregistered firearm. He was taken to the Santa Valley Sheriff’s Station jail for booking, where arrest records indicate that his bail was set at $0.

Jensen was not the only person to be arrested on similar weapons charges on Tuesday. That same day, a deputy with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was reportedly patrolling in Valencia when they saw a vehicle driving in the area with no front license plate displayed.

The deputy proceeded to conduct a traffic stop to warn and cite the driver. After making contact, the deputy learned that the man behind the wheel was not only a convicted felon on active parole, but also driving on a suspended license.

“A search of his vehicle resulted in the recovery of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, as well as a loaded short barrel rifle and a large bag of ammunition,” wrote Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, in an official post Wednesday morning.

Following this search, the man was arrested on several charges, including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance with a loaded firearm.

The man, 29-year-old Nicholas Alkio of Rio Linda, was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail for booking, where arrest records indicate that his bail was set at $50,000.
